Vixen explores the undeniable yet often unacknowledged influence of Black women in shaping pop culture. From music and fashion to beauty and visual aesthetics, their creative contributions set the standard for mainstream culture. Yet, despite being at the forefront of cultural innovation, their work is frequently appropriated, commodified, or erased.

This piece delves into the duality of that experience—how Black women are simultaneously celebrated and exploited, desired yet dismissed, empowered yet objectified. It also confronts the reality of hyper-sexualization, a burden Black women navigate while shaping the very trends that define global pop culture.

Through Vixen, I examine the tension between agency and exploitation, visibility and erasure. This work is both a tribute and a critique, inviting viewers to reflect on the power, resilience, and complexity of being the backbone of cultural creation while often being denied the recognition they deserve.
